There’re many web-based mail service providers that you can use, but using an email address with your own domain will give you more credibility if you are running a company, for example, not to mention that with web-based email services there are limits on the size of the attachments that you can send or receive. If you use an email service that offers support for the POP3 and IMAP email protocols, you won’t run into such problems and you’ll be able to use any program on your PC to check your emails, including Thunderbird, Outlook or Apple Mail. You can even set up an email account on your smartphone. The difference between the two email protocols is that with IMAP, an email message is displayed locally at your end, but remains on the server, whereas with POP3, the message is downloaded onto your personal computer, unless you configure the program in such a way as to keep a copy on the server.
POP3 IMAP E-mail Accounts in Hosting
Each and every hosting plan that we offer will permit you to create email accounts with any domain name hosted under your account and to set them up on any device. During the setup process, you can select between the POP3 and the IMAP email retrieval protocols, as we support both, so you can choose which one to use in accordance with your preferences and the purpose of your account – you may decide to download all email messages if you’ve got a personal account and to save the messages on the server – if you have a business account, for example. The Email Manager tool, which is integrated into our in-house developed Hepsia Control Panel, permits you to download and run a small-sized file, so as to set up an email account with an email client – Outlook, Apple Mail or Thunderbird. You can even use your smartphone to examine your email messages and we have an elaborate tutorial on how to do this on an iPhone or an Android phone.
